For many the primary firearm of choice is a handgun. Whether it be a responsible individual with a permit to carry, a law enforcement officer, competitive shooter, or other armed professionals, the handgun offers versatility, conceal-ability, and can be an effective tool for protection or competition. With all things, proper technique and a solid skill set is required, this is even more true for a handgun. Handguns by nature have less effective ballistic capability than those of rifles or shotguns. This requires proper presentation and shot placement in order for the handgun to be an effective tool. Study after study of handgun shootings all conclude to one common theme, shot placement is key.
Our approach is that accuracy must never take a back seat. While someone may be able to fire several shots in a very short period of time, if they are all misses, they don’t count for anything. While accuracy is the end goal, speed and efficiency must also be addressed. Armed encounters are likely not going to wait for someone to obtain a perfect stance and wait for them to make the “perfect shot.” So how does someone build the speed to effectively present their handgun to a threat quickly, while also being able to make accurate well placed shots? The answer is simple, training and practice of the fundamentals to a point where the fundamentals are compressed into smooth fluid actions. Our courses are designed to build the skill set in our students to be effective, proficient, fluid, and above all, accurate.

Handgun Courses
Moving Handgun focuses on the skill set of moving efficiently with a handgun. This course course was developed after reviewing numerous officer involved shootings, permit to carry holder self defense shootings and even scenarios and elements from the competition arena. Additionally examining and guidance from top tier training methods and schools have influence in this course, namely Mentor Dave Spaulding.
This course focuses on the skill set of utilizing a handgun in close proximity to your target. The target could be an array for the competition shooter or an active threat for the permit holder or law enforcement officer on the street. This course was developed after reviewing real life scenarios and officer involved shootings and skills learned from competitive shooting events.
We are a MN POST Continuing Education Sponsor and can assist you or your agency with mandated training or courses to build real street worthy skills and confidence. From initial qualifications, use of force training and orientation, all the way to advanced firearms training and combatives courses, we can teach you or your officers practical knowledge and skills. We can also assist retired officers with HR218 Qualifications.
This is a comprehensive 16 hour course that is designed to establish a strong, efficient fundamental skill set when using a handgun. Whether for Law Enforcement, Personal Defense, Competition, or Target Shooting the foundation of effective accuracy is a solid understanding and delivery of the core fundamentals proficiently.
In order to receive a certificate for this course, the student must pass a series of qualification exercises demonstrating proficiency and performance.
